Project: Water Systems Chelan Butte Water Supply System As part of engineering design and surveying services provided for the development of a resort subdivision, American Engineering prepared the design plans and specification for new pumping station having duplex 2,000 gpm vertical turbine pumps, mechanical control equipment, 4,500-foot ductile iron pipe line and a lined 16 million gallon storage reservoir. We also provided the design of the reservoir liner and prepared the Department of Ecology documents for obtaining a reservoir construction permit.
As part of the design work, we analyzed the water hammer potential associated with the high operating head (250 to 350 psi gauge pressure) pumping systems in order to determine the magnitude of pressure surges during different operating conditions and recommended the selection of surge control equipment using sophisticated computer modeling shown in the picture above. The Squaxin Island Indian Nation contracted American Engineering Corporation to plan, design and manage the construction of the water supply, wastewater treatment and storm drainage infrastructure systems to serve the 40,000 square foot gaming facility. The water supply reservoir and wastewater disposal fields are located on a remote site approximately 300 feet in elevation above the gaming facility. The reservoir seen here has a floating cover to prevent contaminants entering the public water supply. The wastewater treatment system includes large volume grease traps serving the restaurant facilities, large volume septic chambers, 4 effluent pumps and dosing siphons for wastewater disposal at the remote disposal field location. All facilities are coordinated through the use of telemetry.
